On the first Wednesday of every month, we provide a nutritious meal, a friendly smile and a positive outlook to homeless teens in the Spokane area.
Volunteers purchase and prepare a wonderful home cooked meal at SVUMC that will be taken by other volunteers to VOAs Crosswalk Teen Shelter. Those volunteers will serve the meal to area homeless teens that come to the shelter that evening for dinner which is served at 6:00PM. The teens, staff and volunteers at Crosswalk rely on the generosity of area churches, service clubs, families and businesses for those evening meals. Founded in 1985, Crosswalk is an emergency shelter, a school drop-out prevention program and a group of lifesaving and life-changing programs dedicated to breaking the cycle of youth homelessness. In an average year, Crosswalk serves 1,000 youth. The shelter is available 365 days a year and services are free and voluntary.
Crosswalk Dinner Ministry is looking for more volunteers to purchase, prepare and/or serve the meal. This is a wonderful, rewarding ministry that only takes 1 ½ to 3 hours of your time once a month. Crosswalk warmly welcomes adult volunteers who love to interact with teens and would be happy to talk with you.
